Dr Erick Giovani Sperandio Nascimento

Dr Erick Giovani Sperandio Nascimento is Associate Professor (Reader) in AI for Clean Air Systems at the Surrey Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence (AI), member of the Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) and Sustainability Fellow at Institute for Sustainability (IfS), both at the University of Surrey (UoS), UK. He attracted, led and participated in R&D projects totalling >£4.3M. He published 46 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 6 book chapters and 45 full papers in conference proceedings, along with 4 filed patents and 2 software registries, acting as reviewer in +10 high-quality international journals and as academic editor in international journals and book projects. He has >20 years of experience working in the areas of clean air, air pollution, weather and renewable energy solutions, among others. He is the lead researcher of the Programme Lead in AI and Sustainability at the IfS. He is University Ambassador of the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI), and certified instructor of the NVIDIA DLI in various areas of AI. He serves as co-PI at the Brazilian National Applied Research Centre in AI (CPA-IA) for the Industry at SENAI CIMATEC and is PI of the NVIDIA/CIMATEC AI Joint Lab. He coordinated of one of the axes workgroups of the Brazilian AI Strategy (EBIA).
